Although there are some kid friendly virtual worlds like Webkinz, Club Penguin, and Neopets there are some to watch out for like Second Life and the Sims. The conversations are not monitored and your child can communicate with anyone that is online in a live chat situation.  The Avatars in these virtual worlds can be dressed very scantily. Some of these virtual worlds have real world situations like dating, sex, violence, organized crime, nudity, and just about any scenario that people want to act out online.
